Can I just grind off the ears on the front of the ignition to allow the retaining nut to unscrew? Any suggestions for another way? I was told that I could "drill out" the lockset but my first sentence(above) seems like it would be easier???
Thanks for any input or experience...

WHY do you want to destroy parts when a few $$ and a trip to a locksmith can fix it correctly?? A key is MUCH cheaper than replacing the destroyed parts later...

Thanks for response. My car is not road ready so I will have to find a mobile locksmith service as I live in a rural area. I purchased a new, complete lockset for the entire car, but I suppose it would be better to keep the original ignition. :)

If you have a trailer or a way to deliver the car to the lock smith you can probably save some money. I live in a rural area too and that worked for me.

I just removed the glove box lock and took it to locksmith.

If you already bought the new lock set for the entire car, why would you screw with a locksmith? It's entirely possible that the glove box key isn't even the same as the ignition key. I'd just replace the locks.

He's trying to remove the keyless lock cylinder so he can install the new one. I am one of those that took the glove box in first and later found out the ignition switch had a different key.
