Oil and Temp gauges

Two questions.

Bought new aftermarket electric oil and temp gauges. Instructions say to use 18 gauge wire. I don't have 18 gauge wire but have all colors of 16 gauge. Will using other than 18 gauge wire cause problems with accurate readings?

If the answer is yes it will be a problem, can I use 16 ga. for ignition and ground, but 18 from senders to gauges without problems?

No problem, too small on them would be, too big OK.

Too big is never a problem, but too small can be depending on what you're trying to do. I'm neck deep in that stuff too. ;)

Thanks for the replies. Glad to know that my 16 ga. wire will work. Saved me a 25 mile round trip to the auto parts store.

Plus its always good to use something on the shelf, less stuff for the estate sale.
