nice start. with no drivers side fender, engine removal will be easier (glass 1/2 full).

Thanks Carl, yes sir (LOL), I'll be removing the pass side front fender also. Both front fenders need new headlight caps. Then engine removal will be much easier. Also going to do some work on the firewall while it's easy to get to.

You're on the right track. I pulled the front end off my car, then cleaned and painted it, rebuilt all the suspension, installed disc brakes, then installed engine and trans...........then put the front end back on. Only problem.......this wasn't a single weekend job, but was well worth it.

Front end off & engine out. Something tells me this is going to take more time than I was thinking it would... No hurry, just going to have fun with it.

Engine checks out solid so I'm going to clean it up and make a few minor changes. I've decided to run the small block for a while.

It is not Mark, it is a SBC. I was going to put a BBC in it and I have the BBC engine but I decided to run the SBC since it checked out good.

Looked again with glasses, I see now its a SBC must have aftermarket heads with 3 bolt holes on pass side in front.

Lol, I can see how you would think that Bama. I haven't decided on a color or colors yet but I'm thinking strongly about a 2 stage Kirker custom paint. The car was orignally India Ivory and Matador Red, maybe I'll go back to that or close to that.

Continuing to install Vintage A/C compressor, alternator and brackets. I might need some advise when figuring out where the A/C connections go. U Tube should help, these instructions could certainly be better. 11319113201132211323113241132511326

If you go to the Vintage Air website, there should be a diagram showing which hoses go between which components, along with the sizes of the hoses. Your Evaporator is of course under the dash (thru the firewall), and your compressor is on front of yuor engine, and the condensor is in front of your radiator. What isn't shown (and you get to decide) is where to mount your dryer (could be mounted in front of the radiator, or on the passenger firewall) and the heat control switch (typically on the passenger fender). When I purchased my Nomad, the prior owner had installed the dryer behind the passenger inner fender (sideways), and there were some other issues so it didn't work. I relocated the dryer to the front of the radiator support mounted it upright and remade all the hoses and got it working.

I bought most of the necessary parts I required from Yogi's... who has a number of hose kits to select from. I also purchased a beadlock tool for assembling the hoses to beadlock connectors which allowed me to make my own hoses. It was a good learning experience for me to do that.. :)

PS. you can make your installation look MUCH NEATER and simpler if you find someone who can make hardline pieces for you (especially for the shorter connections), and Many people really like the EZ Clip system due to the ease of making the hoses and the smaller diameter of the hoses (but a bit more expensive on the front end)..

Many thanks Bama and Buster. It's good to know I can call on you for advice and direction if needed. I've been thinking about where I want to mount the dryer and heater control valve and I'm pretty sure I'll mount them on the passenger side inner fender. Mounting the dryer near the core support will all but place it out of sight. I'm not quite ready to hook up AC lines yet but hopefully I will be soon. My next challenge will be mounting the core support, then the fenders and hood to check fit and clearance. I modified the core support in order to mount the radiator and give plenty room for the fan and shroud. Now I believe I'll need to modify the hood brace in order to close the hood.

Installed a Quick Fuel SS-650

I'm not familiar with that carb (had to look it up on duckduckgo to realize it was a carb); have you used those previously? Wondered what your reasoning was for using that one versus fill-in-the-blank.
Thanks! Doug

Good question Belair-o, yes I have ran a Quick Fuel carb before this one. I currently have a SS-850 on a BBC car (Pic below). I've ran just about all the popular brand carbs at one time or another. I personally like tuning the Quick Fuel carb over others. I especially like the fact that your not required to remove sight plugs to set float levels. I've never been a fan of spilling raw fuel on a hot engine.

A Quick Fuel carb is a Holley clone. They have (had) a reputation as being high quality stuff. Holley purchased the company 4 or 5 years ago. I'm sure R&D/new products stopped then. Unsure if Holley made any detail changes to the products or left them truly independent - doubt it.

Silver can be a little finicky to paint. Have to be patient when laying it down. Looks good. Steve

Hi Rick_L, thanks for the info. My understanding from long ago research; the Quick Fuel line was a developed stand alone by some Holley X-employees. I was not aware Holley bought the Quick Fuel Company. I do know that Quick Fuel is still marketed by a separate identity. It's been my experience in the past Quick Fuel Reps won't talk much about Holley and Holley Reps won't talk much about Quick Fuel.

You are right about that 57fleetside. I squirt it in very light coats and it seems to lay down pretty good for me. Like you said "patience" is the key. Joel
