I have a 327 with the following code on the left side of engine TO623S and no other info. I am thinking the T is for Tonawanda NY plant and 62 is the year, and the 3 is March it was cast .What the S stand for is a question. Any help in determining engine info is appreciated in order to make necessary adjustments. The interpretation is the closest I have come to since the owner of car could not provide any info. other than that it was a 327.

I find S to be a 1962 327 PG, other detail on web. However common sense tells us 250 hp with PP heads, and at least 300 with Camel Humps. A solid lifter 327 would be more.

The 'S' suffix was used in '57, 58, and 59 on 283 ci engines in TRUCKS.

It was also used in 1962, 63, and 64 Passenger cars (327/250 hp).

The Application code tells you it was assembled in the Tonawanda, NY engine plant on 23 of June (of a year to be determined by checking your casting no and casting date on the rear of the block)... The casting number will also confirm for you for certain if your engine block is a 283 or 327.

I believe 870 is the casting number for eaarly 327s.
