Are any of you using a clutch fan setup with a long water pump in a small block 55? If so, what setup do you have please? Bo

Why do you want to use a LWP.

Serpentine pulley set up is requiring a long pump and that’s what’s on it already.

Is it a used GM or aftermarket serpentine set up ?

Another question if I may?. How far from your radiators are your fans no matter what water pumps you are using?

Jimmy dont the factory setup require a special water pump. I have a couple parts Surburbans with the OEM setup. one with a/c one without.

I have went with a Hayden 2747 fan clutch, Derale 17117 6 blade fan, and an Ecklers 18-307 aluminun fan shroud. By my measurements I should be about 2 inches from my radiator with the fan/clutch. I will post how this goes later when installed.

yes the water pump turns backwards on factory set ups. Not sure about aftermarket set ups.

I always believed that ideally the fan shroud dictated how far from the radiator the fan should be. I think the fan being half in/ half out of the shroud is about ideal

I think you are right, the fan distance to the radiator should be determined by the fan shroud. Position fan half in and half out of shroud and the distance should not matter. I’m using the same clutch and fan on my 56 with a 350 .
