hello all I have a 55 Chevy belair convertible, I like to install a battery disconnect switch knife type they work well for me on the battery, I tried 2 a lay down flat hood hits rear brace.
aside from putting a master disconnect in any other idea, I like the knife disconnects look vintage... thanks

No idea, but it would help if you edited your post, and added a picture.

I bought my disconnect at Wal Mart. Cheap but effective!

Roadster,

One problem with the original '55-'56 battery location is that it puts the battery (and it's terminals) directly under and fairly close to the bottom of the hood when it's lowered into position. Using a battery that is too tall, or anything attached to the top terminals that protrudes too high can result in your battery shorting out via the hood! (I have a hood with it's paint burned off from that so I'm conscious of the problem), and I really dislike the location for the '55-56 battery.

Changing over to a shorter in height battery, or a 'side terminal battery' might be solutions to your quandary without being a major modification, Or adding a terminal block elsewhere for your battery connections, and putting the cutoff there?
