Davlin56 on the other site just posted that the US government has just extended non-essential travel ban from Canada for another month, so Canadians can't come to the show. Wrong border, I guess.............

Just ONE more situation where the folks who OBEY the laws get punished while the lawbreakers get welcomed with open arms! Welcome to communism folks!!

I am coming down from Nor Cal, highway 99 is all torn up at Rosedale exit (southbound closed) not sure about Northbound. Any of you coming from east, great place to stop for a break Russell's Truck Plaza. Us 40 about 20 miles inside New Mexico, very clean great food (set up like 50's dinner) and a very good car collection to see.

has anyone heard info about California's vaccine or recent negative test result mandate that went into effect October 2nd for large gatherings, in doors and out doors. I have emailed tri five assoc. and waiting for answer.

I'm in Arizona and the Bakersfield spot is fairly close but I would much rather go to a location in the middle also, more people would likely attend plus none of the California political bs , Tulsa, Ok would be a good spot, lot of Rt66 stuff, good car scene etc etc

With the flighty governor and government in Calif, they probably don't know as yet...?

Just got home from Good Guys Del Mar, CA on Sunday. I had e-mailed Good Guys before I left home asking about mask mandates. I was told masks are required indoors. Got there, sign on the doors said masks are recommended. Almost nobody wore masks. Hope that lasts thru the 16th.

just got answer from tri five nationals about California vaccine/test mandate and they said it is "no" at this time ..... so as of now it looks like I will be there with mask in my pocket to be worn when required to keep the show going otherwise it stays in my pocket

That pretty much sums up how to deal with it in California. Just carry one for the few times you'll actually put it on (typically when going indoors at a business establishment).

Would some of you guys who are bringing your cars post a pic of your car here please. So that we can recognize each other.
Here's mine:

Well Bill, I looked all over for ya but didn't see your car. If you were there, and you were looking for my Nomad, you wouldn't have seen it because 5 minutes from the house, it developed a squeel that progressively got worse, leaked fuel out the back when I topped it off at the gas station, and threw a check engine light. None of this unfixable, but didn't want to make the 100+ mile trip in it. So drove it home and parked it, and jumped in the other car and came up for the weekend.

300+ cars in attendance. Drag racing for 2 solid days. Lots of show cars and the nicest people on the planet to just hang with all variations of tri5 Chevys for the weekend. Danchuk and the TriFiveAssoc. definately are to be thanked for pulling this inagural event off, given the disruption in everyones lives going on right now. They have some marketing and promotion to do for growing next years event...but that's how the east coast event started out too.
So I'll give it another try next year.

Paul,

So sorry that you experienced car trouble and had to leave the Nomad at home... (That happened to me and my '56 Nomad when I was enroute to the first TriFive Nationals event in 2015 - I had to get the car home, and hop into my truck to make the show!)..

Sounds like you had a great time anyway, and the show was a success! :)

Really wish we would have something like that within a reasonable driving distance. I remember going to a CCI show in Omaha in the 90s when I was building my 56. I drove my 85 Cutlass and ended up buying the first of two 220v wire feed welders that I have bought from same vendor.

Well, I was there. Parked at the end of a row facing the garages both days. I'll recheck in the morning, but I think the answer is 1430 miles trouble free. Got home today (Monday) about noon. The highlight for me was running down the strip. First time since 1965, when I was 19.
