I finally pulled the valve cover to put on a new valve cover gasket in hopes of stopping an oil leak. When I pulled the cover, I thought, that doesn't look right:
12640
Any ideas on why the two front rockers are rotated and not centered on the valves? Think I can just back off the tension, and rotate them so they are centered on the valve, and then set the valves again (and that it won't repeat)? It wasn't like that when I set the valves initially.

Also, notice that linear low spot on the top right of the head, which is the seating surface for the valve cover? Thinking maybe I should use something to fill the low spot, any suggestions?
Thanks, Doug

You should either have pushrod guide plates or guided rocker arms. That determines the centering of the rocker arm on the valve.

Hi Rick,
Thanks for the response. There are pushrod guide plates on the head (the black things in the pic). Any ideas for fixing this?
Thanks, Doug

Following Rick's comment on the guide plates, I found this video that describes the procedure to align the plate (hopefully the link will work):

I will give this a try. I will pull the other cover, and see how those rockers look.
Thanks, Doug

Pushrods or guide plates don't match?

Pushrods or guide plates don't match?
Hey Old Buzzard,
Thanks for the question. I think all match. I think the one guide plate just needs adjustment (per the video I linked). I will pull the other valve cover and see how the other bank looks.
Thanks, Doug
