View Full Version : Tremec TKO 600 transmission
Will a Tremec TKO 500/600 tranny mount to a 350 engine? I have a line on a 69 Muncie M20 but have read several posts about have rpm noise issues with highway driving. Your opinions are appreciated and welcomed!!

If it's made for a Chevy application it should bolt right to a stock 55-57 or other Chevy bellhousing. My understanding is they have the Muncie bolt pattern. You will like the overdrive versus the Muncie if you do much highway driving.
Thank you Chevynut! I am looking at doing highway driving as well as daily driving. After reading numerous posts I think my original 3.55 rear end will suffice. Are there any other transmissions I should consider as most posts/articles I read recommended the Tremec? Is the 500 or 600 my best bet?

The 500 and 600 refer to the torque ratings (ft-lb), as I recall, but they do have different gear ratios. I don't know the difference in price but I would think that for a 350 you would be fine with a 500. The 3.55 gear you have should be about perfect with either one. I have a Tremec T56 (Viper version) which is the 6-speed with dual over-drive.

Look into the newer TKX transmission. Has more friendly shifter location options, plus it fixes some of the shifting problems that the 500 and 600 transmissions have.
Thank you! Will look into the TKX too!
Thanks for the link to the video. I found it very useful.
