Just purchased a 1956 Cameo and with new battery won't hold charge overnight. With full charge will start and engine will continue to run. AAA guy who replaced battery says generator running a little low on charge rate. Generator was replaced in 2021. I know the procedure for checking battery drain with a test light or ammeter and will do that first. My fear is that it might be in the charging or starting system not protected with fuses. I need a good test plan. I bought this car a few days ago in Florida while on vacation from a nice lady who can offer no assistance. I can't find help and need to ship it 1200 miles to home and leaving area in a few days. I am a fairly good mechanic doing hot rods and restoration but everything and shop up north. If I find a circuit not needed for start and run not concerned. It's never that simple. I can't turn it over to a trucker knowing it won't start at the other end. Any comments much appreciated.
