Is there a recommendation on a accelerator cable for an sbc with the pro Flo 4 xt efi and the same for the shift linkage or cable for a 4L60e? -
do you think the stock sender will be sufficient?Leave a comment:

Thanks Wagon Crazy
i will do just that
the Holley in tank fuel pump runs about $550 ish
i have the stock unit from my salvage 97 Tahoe. Probably a bit skimpy for the approx 450 hp i plan on this 383 stroker. so probably heading that way once the baffles are welded in per your suggestion.

For what it's worth...
I had a 57 9 passenger wagon for a few years and went all thru it. That stock tank is a unicorn for sure. Nobody repops it, and definitely not in an EFI (in tank pump) version.
So your choice would be to pull the tank and retrofit it for EFI. It means doing some welding on it (which is not a big deal if you soak the tank in water for several days, then let it dry out completely to get all the fumes out). Its just sheet metal like any other part of the wagon.
I foresee you cutting/welding in a pump housing flange (for an adjustable aftermarket pump) + a sending unit flange (another aftermarket adjustable style one). The new top of tank flange you'll use should have a connection point for the feed and return fuel lines to attach to it. You might be able to buy that thru Tanks Inc. You'd especially need to cut the tank open enough to weld in some baffles (minimize slosh at the bottom of the tank when it's down to about a third of a tank, and also weld in a pump-pickup sock "tray". The requirement with EFI systems is they need constant fuel back pressure at all times. Even a momentary blip of missing fuel at the sock pickup will immediately result in stalled engine. I found this out in living color once
But I never did the EFI conversion on my 9 passenger wagon, as it only had a carbureted sbc350 in it and the block mounted pump worked fine.
But this was 10+ years ago now. With all the EFI possibilities for our hot rods today, I can TOTALLY see why you'd want to do this. Go for it and post pics and ask questions. We're all here to help each other figure it out.

Check out Tanks, Inc. They have fuel pump modules that might work.Leave a comment:

Has anyone crossed this road yet? I want to retain the original 9 passenger wagon tank yet want to fit a fuel pump to feed my EFI ProFlow 4xt Edelbrock system. Any feedback on source and or model would help.Tags: None
