Have a new fuel pump being shipped. I'm wondering if this is the bolt that holds the pushrod in place? Also this bolt with another bolt secures a motor mount. How hard is it to align that back after fuel pump is installed? Thanks

- Remove the stock bolt. The retaining bolt is located on the front of the engine block near the fuel pump mounting plate, close to the harmonic balancer.
- Insert a longer bolt. You can use a longer bolt of the same thread pitch (for example, one of the original fuel pump mounting bolts) to push the pushrod up and hold it in place. Finger-tighten the longer bolt just enough to secure the rod.
- Install the new pump. With the pushrod held up, you can easily install the new mechanical fuel pump. Make sure the pump arm correctly engages the pushrod.
- Replace the bolt. Once the new pump is in place and bolted down, remove the longer bolt and replace it with the original, shorter bolt.
While the bolt trick is a simple and reliable method, other techniques are also used:- Grease: Some mechanics apply a thick coating of grease to the pushrod to help it stay in place during installation.
- Engine position: You can turn the engine to top dead center (TDC) on the compression stroke for cylinder #1. This ensures that the camshaft eccentric holding the pushrod is on its lowest point, pushing the rod outward and holding it in position.
