planning a 57 LS6 swap

Suggest you call and ask the difference between the 81073 and 81074 before ordering to confirm what's below.

Looking at the photos and specs, the 81074 is the equivalent of the Holley 302-1, and the 81073 is the equivalent of the Holley 302-2.

The Holley 302-1 is the one that fits a 55-57. It has the additional benefit of being able to clear a longer stroke, but that's not a problem with the LS6.

You are doing so many things I want to do with my 57 210! I love the Cragar look! It definitely set me off on mine when I saw it. I will be keeping this post in mind, as I will be doing a motor, trans brake, power steering, and A/C upgrade! Great looking car...Thanks for sharing!

about time for an update! Summer was great with the A/C. I never finished the EFI setup, i just kept driving it on the 4 barrel.. Well winter is here and teardown began. first up was the LS6 cleanup. I was going to just leave the heads on and change the cam, and springs... but along the way i noticed a couple lifters were collapsed. so parts were. Texas speed " Cleetus Mcfarland Bald Eagle" camshaft, PAC springs, hardened pushrods, new valve seals, LS7 lifters and trays. with a little valve lap job for good measure.

So far I have removed the motor and trans. new motor is all back together for the most part. installing the power steering box and fuel system soon.

What abot firewall modification to get that T56 to fit under there? Have you done a dry test fit yet?

I've been quietly plugging away at this project for the last 8-9 months in my spare time. It was my first LS swap so I don't have much to compare it to. There was a few things that were supposed to fit, that didnt. I had some problems to solve along the way, but I figured it out. Had to try a couple sets of headers to get around the new power steering box I installed. CPP 600. That took a rag joint that was pretty hard to find to fit my current steering column. I had to fabricate a mount for a 2000 camaro clutch master cylinder. custom made some fuel lines, welded new ears for the transmission crossmember. I just tackled one problem at a time. I used adjustable motor mounts to help with alignment. Installed a new tank with 255lph pump, used a stock 0411 PCM with BP Automotive stand alone harness. Rebuilt the T56 with carbon blockers, new synchro sleeves, brass fork pads etc. had to move the battery to the trunk, used a power distribution block up front. one major issue I had was it wouldnt start after everything was wired up. I checked every thread i could to chase the problem. There was a no spark situation. I had 8 brand new coils so i never suspected them. I replaced the crank and cam sensor, checked all my grounds many times. tested the PCM, nothing looked wrong.BUT I had ordered an aftermarket coil harness, because no local junk yard had an OEM one. turns out the coil harness I bought was wired incorrectly for the LS6 coils. I repinned it and it still didnt start. it actually fried all 8 coils being wired wrong. so it took many hours to figure out the coils were bad, I ended up using a scope to see signal coming from the PCM and that told me it was the coils. anyway all set now, running and driving. just need to drop it off for a final tune.
