Garage find......anybody know this car from back in the day?

1000002596.jpg 1000002601.jpg 1000002603.jpg I drove my 57 to work a few weeks back and an older guy made mention of a 55 that he had, didnt say to much other than it had been his street/drag car back in the day, he claimed it was unbeaten on the street for many years........yeah right.......so i was asking him about the car he said it had a "big engine in it and a $10,000.00 transmission" yeah sure.....so he calmy said kinda under his breath, "its real fast" kinda shook his head up and down. He told me to come by some time, he lives in a small town northeast of here, so i go by his place last weekend........ he is looking over my 57 more and i say to him, " where's the 55?" "oh....he kind smiles" this is were i am ready for the story on how he sold it or its somewere else of his brother had it or something like that, right, he says "its in here" points to an old shop...............he says i blew the dust off it last week! also casually mentions the car on the rack is a 1 owner 26k mile LS-6 450 hp model, whatever that is?

Not sure if the Chevelle is for sale, it looks like a brand new car, guess it sold locally new and had never been driven in the winter. he stated it is 1 of the most highly optioned LS-6 cars ever built. That 55 is over the top bad ass, the doors open and close like new everything on the car is first rate lots of hand made parts, he was telling about a few things on the car, he kinda looked at me and shook his head up and down and said "its real fast, once its hooked, its a rocket ship!" its looks really tough and sinister, all black, body all stock no lettering no decals, just straight stock body except the hood, deep black paint, interior looked really good, even had power windows and a tilt wheel. stock dash looked really good, has gauges in the glove box area. he said he used to drive it all the time and has lots of miles on it, he claimed with the tall tires 33x21.50 he can go down the freeway at 70 75 no problem and even gets decent mileage with the blower.....but he added that his real goal was to "shut down everything in the valley" LOL, the way he talks, reminds me of a movie character! anyway I had a handful of cars that i thought were pretty fast, but there is no way I would even think about takin that 55 on!
