But it's progress none the less Richard. Those pics of the car outside, on the flatbed represent huge progress. You and Sue will be driving this soon. Cheers!

Thanks Brian. It goes to the front end shop for alignment (really four wheel alignment), then for its first test drive.

That car looks great Richard. You've done an amazing job on it in a relatively short time considering all the modifications and custom stuff you built. Congrats and be sure to post a video of that first drive. By the way, do you have a hardtop for it?

Thanks Laszlo, and we do have both convertible and hard top. We've pretty much disassembled the hard top, but haven't rebuild, restored it yet. I want to get the car to the interior shop, and we'll bring the hard top in a few months.

                Exhaust is Done

Returned from CO and picked up the Corvette. Robert finished up the exhaust. He did it a little different than I'd initially planned. I was going to use 2 14" magnaflows and an H-pipe.

After listening to Sue about the sound level she wanted, Robert suggested a different approach. It's a dual in/dual out 18" muffler with an internal x-pipe. It's quieter at normal power levels, yet flows well under power.

Robert was right, and Sue likes the sound level. Tomorrow, the Corvette goes to the alignment shop. At that point, it's ready for a test drive.

It's a Magnaflow 12468 muffler. Robert purchased it, but I imagine Summit or Jegs probably sell them.

Yes, Summit sells it ($175) but they don't show whether the ports are marked for 'IN' or 'OUT' .. The muffler appears to be very similar to the mufflers delivered on first gen Camaros from the factory. The Camaro mufflers used an inlet and an outlet on each end and your installation has both inlets on the same end... If the interior of the muffler is just a large volume with baffles, then it doesn't make any difference.. but I was looking for some clue to the internal construction...?

I'll have to take a look at the muffler to see if it matters which end is in or out. For a some Magnaflow mufflers, they say it doesn't matter, but will have to check this one. I suspect both on one side will have to be the same, either in or out, because of the internal x-pipe. You're probably going to have to contact Magnaflow for any internal construction details.

                          Corvette is aligned

Put the Corvette on a rollback and took it to the alignment shop yesterday. The 4 wheel alignment went as it should. Waited the rain out, and drove the car back to the shop, its first 9 miles. The Corvette runs and handles nicely, and it's pretty quick.

If the inside of the muffler is an 'open chamber', then it is effectively an 'X pipe' even if it's hidden. I found no information saying that inside the muffler is an actual 'X pipe'... I'll call the 'other Richard'..

This is what the Summit Racing part listing says:

"Muffler, 2.50 in. Inlet/Dual 2.50 in. Outlet, Stainless Steel, Tru-X core design, Natural"

Looks to me like it has an actual x-pipe...
