Best Reliable Mods for a Daily Driven Duramax?

    Hello everyone.

I recently bought a 2018 Silverado with the L5P engine and want to improve towing power, throttle response, and fuel efficiency without hurting long term reliability. I use the truck for daily driving during the week and hauling a camper on weekends, so I need recommendations instead of extreme racing setups.

While researching online, I keep seeing discussions about duramax performance upgrades, but the options seem overwhelming. Are tuners, intake systems, exhausts, lift pumps, or transmission modifications worth the investment for towing needs?

I would appreciate advice from owners who have tested combinations that improved performance while keeping costs reasonable.

Spend some time on Youtube looking at videos posted by Daves Auto Center in Centerville Utah. He is the go to guy for all truck repair and engine rebuilding, having posted thousands of videos and has something like 3 million subscribers across his channels. He is in his late 60s, and was initally very reluctant to go public with posting about the work his business does, but its resulted in people shipping their trucks to him from all across the country. He comes across as an honest guy, wanting to know why all the engines "fail". GM, Ford, Dodge-Cummins...they all have their weak points that he's identified and upgraded. Lots of Banks upgrades, etc. Check him out sometime, but I'll warn you...you'll go down a rabbit hole of binge watching his repair videos . But you'll learn alot too. Good luck.
