Hello all,
I had an account here once before but I did not participate all that often. The email address I was using no longer exists, so I had to create a new account. So this is me re-introducing myself.
I first got my car in the fall of 1986 when dad and I traded for it straight up. At the time we had a 1972 LeMans that some guy wanted more then he wanted his 1955 Belair hardtop. Go figure.
That was the fall of my senior year of high school. I drove every day the weather was good, once it changed dad and I pulled it into the one-car garage we rented and tore into it. When it emerged in the spring, the day of my senior prom, it was no longer the two-tone blue, but instead a custom mix of black cherry, and it also sported a whole new rolled and pleated grey cloth interior.
After a few years we sold the car, and while it may have been gone, it never left my brain and heart. Life moved on and I got married, started a family, and had other hot rods. But that 55 left a lasting impression on me. Fast forward to 2006-ish when I decided to start looking for the car. The internet wasn't what it is today, but I still posted pics and details everywhere I could, trying to track it down. Then finally, in November of 2015, my phone rang. It seemed that a guy in Florida had just bought a black 1955 Chevy and was surfing the web to find any history on it when he stumbled upon my searches. A week later I owned my old car again.
Last year in May I decided that it was time for a mechanical update to make the car more roadworthy and fun to drive. The plan, rip out all of the front suspension and replace it all. Well, plans don't always go as planned now do they? One week into the project and I had the radiator and support out, engine and trans out, all suspension, brakes, brake lines, fuel line, all wiring, and interior out of the car!
So I ordered a few parts....

This is what it looked like before tearing into it. Pure 90's hot rod....

Within hours i had the interior out, and ripped every wire out of the car. Over the course of a weekend I pulled all the suspension as well as the engine and transmission.

One year later, and here it is.

Thanks for checking it out.
Glenn
