I'd sure like to go but it's right between my trips to Montana. We're probably leaving to go back to CO around the 10-12th, then coming back sometime a few weeks later. My schedule kinda depends on the progress on my shop in Montana. If I'm still here July 22nd I may swing by Boise, but that's doubtful at this time.56 Nomad, Ramjet 502, Viper 6-speed T56, C4 Corvette front and rear suspension

This is the annual Nomad Convention, held this year in Boise, ID. You need to be a CNA member to get full details and to attend, although you could probably 'Drop In' on either Monday (swap meet day), or Tuesday (Show day) and walk around without a name tag, OR you could register AT the convention on Monday at the latest. The Convention goes from Sunday thru Thursday night's banquet and awards ceremony, with Nomaders heading home on Friday, although some Nomaders go early and stay later to fully view an areas sights!
Unfortunately I won't be attending this year since I don't think I'm up to the 3.5-4 days of driving each way... and wifey doesn't fly...Comment

I didn't make the Nomad Convention this year, as my wife didn't want to go and it was just too far for me to drive by myself...
Today, they are likely having a free day to relax or visit area attractions around Boise. Tonight will be the Banquet, a big dinner with trophy awards from the car show after, and tomorrow they will head back towards their home, with many stopping off at parks and attractions on their way back home.
They announce the statistics for the convention tonight, so in the next few days we should find out how many CNA members registered and attended and what states they are from, how many Nomads were in attendance in each class and overall, and the big winners! I know we had a few driving their Nomads from the southeast, so here's hoping everyone makes it back home with no major problems! It was going to be a 3 to 4 day drive for me from Alabama!Comment

Anyone can just park and walk thru the cars or the swap meet.. etc.. member or not. But only members may enter their Nomad for judging. I first heard about the NNC and a nearby convention in '73 or 74 so I drove 200 miles for a day to get there and just wandered thru the Nomad parking lot, talked to members, and lusted over the cars and got many ideas). I joined immediately after and have been a continuous member of the NNC (and then the CNA) since. If you express interest in the club, generally someone will give you a magazine so you can get a feel for the club before you join. The CNA is NOT a prima donna organization as most of the members do all their own work and share the how-tos among other members.

I was a member of NNC for years starting around 1974 and have a pile of their newsletters called "Nomad Post" I think. When they went defunct I didn't join CNA but I was a member of CCI for a long time. It just got too commercial for me.56 Nomad, Ramjet 502, Viper 6-speed T56, C4 Corvette front and rear suspension

The members of the NNC formed the CNA at the last convention of the NNC (1986 or 7?) , so there was no interruption. Rather than being a 'club' began by a handful of people in Colorado, as was the original NNC, who got too old or ran down to continue it, and decided to close it down, the CNA is actually FORMED as a club of members, and the members elect the officers and make other big decisions. We vote on directors, etc.
CCCI on the other hand began as a club with a magazine and at some point the 'hired' President (Doug Moorhead) declared himself the 'owner' on our insurance paperwork, and a couple of years later SOLD it to a business (for $7 Mil) relegating the club to nothing but a magazine subscription which advertised the products of that business. I was, and still am probably, a lifetime member of the club that is no longer. The CCCI business has been sold a couple more times since Doug first sold it, and now is a part of Ecklers and is owned by a corporation.Comment

CCCI published a listing of all the trifive parts that were still available from Chevrolet back in about '76 or so.. Most of us bought all we could afford to, or needed at that time. CCCI also took the lead, with assistance from the local chapters and members in initiating the production of the first reproduction parts, of which Classic Reproductions and Danchuk were originally the contracted companies to produce them. We OWE one thing to CCCI - the kick starting of the Reproduction Parts Market, and of course their many thousands of members that encouraged that! Now CCCI no longer exists.
The CNA is a real 'club', not an organization formed by a couple of individuals... The CNA cannot be 'shut down' because one of two individuals desire it to...Comment

I just took a look at my magazines and the club was called Classic Chevy International (CCI) and the magazine was Classic Chevy World. This was back in the mid-1990's so I need to dig up the earlier ones to see if it was different. My member number was 12722.56 Nomad, Ramjet 502, Viper 6-speed T56, C4 Corvette front and rear suspension
