As good as they are the most powerful LS engines still can't match a BBC when it comes to raw torque. The LS 376/525 engine only makes 478 ft lb at 5200 Rpm and I'll bet it's not a very flat torque curve with that big cam. Perhaps an LSX 454 could rival a big inch BBC but it's easy to get well over 600 ft lb with a BBC. Mine should make over 600 ft lb and it only has 9.6 to 1 compression and a pretty mild cam. There's no replacement for displacement ..... except supercharging

The BBC isn't exactly new technology, since is hasn't been used in production for over 24 years ago with a injected carburetor. Surprised it's not been resurrected for the new C8.

Some folks have built out LS engines to OVER 427 ci... I suspect they have similar torque (but less mass)...?
