When we had a local Maaco I prepped numerous flip cars and had them painted there with very good results. They like so many of my go to places are gone. Other than that Rick nailed it.
That is a better start than my 56 and I bought it almost 50 years ago.
I really wish they would move that national show around the country.
When you pop the hood with 3x2 carbs or a Tunnel Ram with 2x4s you don't need a plastic cover.
No Slopar expert here but that sure looks like a Challanger to me.
More of a traditional SBC guy muself never cared for ugly plastic engine covers.
Puts a whole new spin on build a car.
Silly me, I thought restoration was your day job.
8x8 for a shifter, kind of big, I think the same guy installed mine. At least he did not use a chainsaw or jackhammer like the guy on my 67 Camaro.
My first attempt at building my 56 in my mid teens was a slightly darker green and ivory. You are correct it is much better that way.
Actually it was a tolerable dark green with a really crappy light green.
My 56 is sierra gold/adobe beige now, about 30 years ago a buddy of mine and I were drinking beer in his shop when he asked me what color the 56 was new. I had to think a bit and replied it was a...
Hopefully someone has a link to an assembly manual.
My expierence with fiberglass repair mas been limited to header pannels on Camaros and Cutlass. Oh yea, L88 2nd gen Caqmaro fiberglass hood repair, ever make a 1/4 mile pass win no hood pins. No...
I would love to have this car it would be a great place to use my early Powerpach heads with 1.84 305H/O valves. .060 forged 283 pistons.etc.
I was thinking maybe it had to do with drag or something.
Probabally a dumb question but what is the purpose of the flat center caps on the rear, there is a local with a Bubbletop that has them too.
If I was woried about it I might use All-Metal.
I dont think these cars are ever truly done, my 56 has been on the road for almost 20 years after a almost 30 year nap and I am still screwing with it.
You missed my point that bright green is out there with Tim's Smurf Blue trannies.
Dumb me, I thought the local guy who painted trannies smurf blue was out there.
Cool reminds me of some of the cars from when I was much younger and first wanted a 56.
I have heard this one before.
I bought a set of them in the 90s for my 56, they work well, bought a set of the Summit ones for my 55. Sadly they did not work with minitub.
