Nice progress, great idea running the battery cables through the plastic block!
Looking good. Getting closer to completion every day!
Thanks guys! Glad you are following the progress. This has been a good car to learn on. Still worth saving but not so nice to worry about messing it up.
Nice looking car!! Welcome to the site.

Thanks Lazlo!
I enjoy the challenges of metal working, very satisfying when stuff turns out halfway decent.
When I stripped the paint off my 39 Ford I used a small propane torch. I heated the paint until it just started to bubble and then used a scraper or wire brush to remove the paint. Not sure if this...
This week I was able to get a few more things in epoxy primer as the weather has been cooperating for the most part.

Work continued on the drivers side front fender this week. After smoothing out a few more of the dents and welding up a couple of small cracks in a few spots I noticed some small rust pin holes on...
Thanks Gary!
I have not sprayed anything else over the Tamco yet. I don't think it will be an issue as long as I scuff it up good before spraying over it though.
After finishing up on the hood side repairs I got them prepped and a couple of coats of epoxy sprayed on them before the weather cooled off.

Thanks Richard, Slow but sure it is getting there.
Thanks Gary
Thanks Lazlo

Been busy with other projects the last couple of weeks but I did finally get back to working on the hood sides this past week.

Finished up a couple of odds and ends the last week or so. I got the hood hinges and the trunk prop rod painted and re-installed. Just used spray cans to do these. Then repaired the trunk hinge bolts...
Thanks, I feel like I am learning and getting better as I go.
Thank You
I will keep that in mind for the next project. Tamco also has a high build primer that is rust encapsulating and can...
This past week I spent prepping for epoxy primer over most of the bare metal areas. Not sure what I am going to to with the bottom of the car yet. I don't have a lift so using a spray gun underneath...
Thanks Richard
Thanks much!!
Thanks Gary, Me too!! hopefully that will be soon.
This week I fixed the gaps on a couple of places on the trunk lid. Mostly just in the upper right hand corner and the trunk lid to tail pan gap.

I have been using 18 gauge on my 39 Ford. 16 gauge would be good for a firewall or body braces that need to have more structural strength. For a console or seat backs 20 gauge might be fine. It...
After a few adjustments I got the trunk to latch properly so I got the brace that holds the trunk latch permanently welded in place.

Yes, as I think it was originally called the tool box area. Would be a good place to put a tool bag and car cleaning items and such.
