If you can't find the MarineTex product, a lot of folks seem to have good success with JB Weld.
I can see why Aussienomad refers to CPP as CraPP. A mechanic friend had me buy a CPP hydro boost, master cylinder, and proportioning valve for our '56. When the hydro boost was installed, it...
I had a shop install a 700R4 in my car this spring. They didn't need to modify the firewall or the floor. The driveshaft will need to be shortened or replaced with a new one. My car had a 350...
I've never used any kind of sealer on exhaust manifold gaskets. Perhaps others have and will chime in with their experiences.
I agree.
Welcome to the site. How about sharing some pictures of your wagon.
Classic Industries sells them LH - TF700276 $309.99 RH - TF700277 $380.99 They have the correct casting numbers.
I followed the method I described above. Before I inserted the rubber in the lower half I covered it with liquid dish soap to make it slippery. Once I inserted the rubber I removed the rubber band...
I did some experimentation this morning, and I think I've figured out the easiest way. I will hold the upper piece in place under the dash using a rubber band stretched between the 2 mounting studs....
The rubber on the car seemed to be the right thickness for the column, when the clamp is compressed.
I hope that I've posted this in the right section. I purchased a '56 BelAir 3 years ago, and I've been working through issues as they crop up. The car has a Flaming River tilt column and lately...
I really admire the work that you are doing. You're building an awesome ride!
Welcome to the site Richard from another '56 owner.
Welcome! There are guys here with a lot of knowledge, and they will be able to help you with the improvements you want to make to your '55. It looks like your son found you a nice car. I hope that...
I think that Vette looks awesome so far. Good luck going forward with your project.
I think it's around a 3.50 with a 27" tire.
We just picked up our '56 from our local transmission shop. They installed a 700R4 to replace our 350. We also had a new driveshaft built, rather than shortening our old one. I haven't had a...
Welcome! I know that we'd all like to see pictures of your car and watch your progress as you restore it.
That's a nice looking '56. Welcome to the site.
I've done it the same way that Troy described.
Beautiful car! I love the colors.
13252Thanks for your help. That looks like the one in our '56. Ours has the same 3 holes and measures 10 1/4" X 6 15/16". Our engine compartment has a lot of dress-up goodies and my wife wants me...
A beautiful ride! You did a great job.
Our '56 has the battery box mounted on the right front side next to the radiator. It looks like it came from the factory that way. I'm wondering if it's the same as the battery box in a '57? Does...
