Rear end suggestions for 55 with LS1?

Have a 55 chevy project, installing LS1 engine...need suggestions on what rear end to go with, please. If discussed many times before, need pointers to the threads.
    Thanks, Larry

There is nothing wrong with the original if it is in good condition. If you want 4 wheel disc go with an S10 if you are going to produce huge HP, never mind you said ls1.

It depends on what you're looking for. If you want something that works, like Jim said the original rear works well, sepecially with a posi. If you want something beefier, there are some aftermarket rears available or you can go with a 9" Ford like a lot of guys do. If you want IRS, there is a C4 Corvette conversion, and the much more expensive Heidt's IRS. If you're interested in the C4 setup, I sell installation kits for them. See my Picturetrail link below.

Love my 57 with c4 conversion, handles like a Vette on steroids.

I bought a 3.42 geared 57 Olds 9.3 at the Lawrence Swap meet for 50 dollars added a rebuilt Safty-Track carrier and new 11 indh brakes. Total cost 1200 bucks and way cooler than anything Henry has to offer. Almost as tough similar locker as the Dana 60 in my 55. If you are not a swap meet scrounge a Strange 60 is the best plug and play option.
