Damn that's a nice-looking car, Mark. Too bad you've kept it hidden from us for so long. Tell us a little about the history of the car, how you acquired it, plans, etc. Cool!

I bought it out of the newspaper in the 70s, it was orginally a green car, it had a white undercarrige, remember that with lights on Mr Gasket traction bars.

mark, glad you got the photos posted. I know I gave you a hard time, hope you find it worth the trouble and will post more. Nice 56. Is the Camaro yours too? Takes me back to my drag racing days in the early 70s.

Yes the Camaro is my old bracket car from the 70s early 80s, those pictures are in the staging area on a test and tune night at the strip. I could not bring myself to sut the Camaro up when I desided to go faster than 12.0 in the 80s. I cut up a 75 instead still have it too. Note Camaro is not running its 14x6 and 15x8 rallys but Cragar Supertricks with 28x10.5 slicks.

The Super Tricks and the narrowed rear is what caught my eye.

I had a similar one in the mid 70s, had a 327/4 speed/Pontiac rear, went 12.20s. Sold it to do a dragster deal in NHRA Comp Elim. In fact almost gave it away. To do better was going to be a similar deal - a real cage, rear subframe, 14" wide tires, etc. to go faster.

Rick, I still have the .555 lift. 2.02/160 hump headed forged TRW flattop, Harland Sharp rockerd, Torker or LT-1 manifold 355 sitting in the garage. The Turbo 400 with 4000 TCI stall is in a 74 Z28 with a long rod 355 that runs high 11s low 12s. Currently I have a BW Super T-10 although car was was also raced with a Muncie and powerglide. I know you wont believe this but prior to 82 it had a 9 inch Ford. I bought a $50 correct SS350 12 bolt with 3.07 gears and installed a $75 posi and some used 4.10 gears that are still in the car. You are absolutly correct on ypour list of modifications to go faster I ruined the 75 Camaro to run in the 10s.

Mark you mention the stock 73-74 z28 had more horse power than the standard versions. I'm not sure the engine in mine was stock sense I traded a hell damaged 66 138 chevelle for it at a car lot. It was a 350 I assume and it had fined corvette valve covers. It was my first experience with a stall converter. It had a 400 trans and would try to break loose and get side ways every time the convertor hit and it shifted into second at wot. It was fun to drive and thought me the art of corrective steering lol.... I traded it for a 57 which never got built when I found a 55 2dr ht my first baby that I let get away and why I have a 55 project today, I was in search of a ht when I found the nomad.
