What I meant is the Hellcat blows the Corvette away in brute horsepower. The Challenger probably weighs quite a bit more than the Corvette, as Chevy has really focused on weight reduction with the C6 and C7. And the Challenger Hellcat is a lot cheaper car, $60K versus $80K. IMO the Challenger is a great looking car.

I don't understand why Chevy says they need "new technology" for the ZR1. All they need to do is take the LS7 (7.0 L) and put a supercharger from the LS9 on it. I think it could easily go well over 700 HP and all the parts exist NOW. The LS9 at 6.2 liters is 638 HP and just scaling by cubic inches gets you there.

The Hellcat is a supercharged 6.2 liter engine at 707 HP. The LS9 is a supercharged 6.2 liter engine at 638 HP. Same engine size, but Chrysler wins. Why can't the LS9 do 700+ HP?

"So far the EPA has only revealed the SRT Hellcat’s highway fuel economy, which checks in at an incredible 22 mpg with the eight-speed auto and 21 mpg with the six-cog manual."

Pretty amazing for a 707 HP car at about 3834 pounds. The C7 Corvette is almost 600 pounds lighter at 3252 pounds.

CN are those curb weights? Most of the Challenger guys I know say their cars weigh 4300lbs. Takes a lot to move that!

Jt, yes I believe those are curb weights. I got them off the internet, which doesn't mean they're right.

Here's the spec from Dodge. The SXT models are 3834 pounds and the RT models are 4082 pounds. The SRT and Hellcat are 4160 pounds.

The hemi heads probably account for some of that. There is no question that GM can get the HP up there, but Chrysler expects their hemi to be king again, and at some point big brother is going to step in.

That probably came from some Chevy guy who doesn't know what a Hemi is.

The Hellcat has two spark plugs per cylinder. It's a hemi(spherical) combustion chamber design as far as I can tell. It's actually the 392 Hemi de-stroked from 6.4 liters to 6.2 liters.

    Here's a pretty cool video: http://www.enginelabs.com/news/hellc...ngine-details/

Hennessy has a 717 hp Mustang now.

I'll bet someone is working on a 727 hp Corvette or Camaro. Even if the factory isn't.

My guess is that either the insurance companies or the gov't are going to put a halt to all this and it will be 1974 all over again.
