Adding the rear axle vent hose, we needed a spot to anchor the second vent fitting to keep the hose from flopping around...

Which is threaded with a 7/16-20 thread

With Loctite added to the threads...

    More SS brake lines...

With the rear brake lines complete, the rear wheels were bolted back up..

And for our lessons learned, this is what happens when you cut 12 gauge steel with a square on the other end of the shear. Dan, the blades are still sharp!

Just a little curious all the pass cars I have ever seen have a short tube sticking up for a diff vent. The only time I have seen this type of venting was on a 4x4, where you might be running in water.

This is on a Ford 9", some versions use this through the brake line distribution block to both provide the vent and secure the block.. We chose a more stable means of securing the hose.

Some rears that don't have this distribution block on the housing will then simply have a small vent screwed into the threaded hole.

We started on an ashtray delete mod for the wagon, starting with this...

    a bit wider opening...

Now to remove the glove compartment door "skin"......

Then used these to flatten out the flanges...

Looks like someone may have kneed the glove box at some point...

The inside looks real nice for 61 year old metal, still shining!

Now time for the post anvil...

Here's our widening method for the inner door and the outside will get a new skin made up..

Kyle continued on reshaping the opening for the glove box, and I got started
in trimming the filler panel for the inner glove box door....

To try and keep our shape around the lock cylinder symmetrical, we cut out a
    profile template...

    Adding the bends....

Looking for a proper sized circle pattern, Mickey Thompson comes
    through...

    Some bead roller action...

Some TIG welding, we'll finish this up next time..

I like it Robert. As you know I also lengthened my glove box to remove the ash tray. Looks like you will now need to lengthen the hinge and the dash mounting for the lengthened hinge also......it never ends does it

People are going to wonder what car that long glove box lid came from.

This is being done primarily to hide the radio head unit, and we'll also add in a small "pocket" to the side for storage. The outside will get a new skin wheeled up, and you're right Mikey, lengthen the hinge is next. I'm going to purchase a new hinge, make the bends, and go from there. The part of the dash that separated the glove box and ash tray was folded down that we could add another anchor point there for the hinge..

If you need another factory hinge just ask I got plenty and they will all fit the dash and lid.
