I've taken them off with a gear puller without too much difficulty. You might try a little penetrating oil and heat, but not too hot.

I used lots of penetrating Fluid , a Autozone pitman arm puller, Breaker bar & a BFH . Spray fluid liberally and often . Lube the threads on the puller.Whack the breaker bar with a BFH, Lather , rinse & repeat . Use eye protection when combining breaker bar with BFH should fall right off

I have done all of the aforementioned in my day.
Don't hit the breaker with a hammer if you don't have to - or use an impact if you don't have to - if you use a Chinese pitman arm puller, it will break. On the other hand a Chinese made puller is so cheap relative to a good one, you might as well try it unless you're going to do the job a lot.
Whatever brand puller use lots of anti seize on puller threads, especially if air tools get involved.
got the arm off. now a new question. can i remove the steering box and shaft with the motor still in the car. i know i need to remove the steering wheel and column just not sure if there is enough room. tank you

I removed the stock box and colunm from my 56 with SBC & rams horns, installed a 500 PS box all with moter in car.
The steering box and shaft comes out straight down and forward so I would say you can remove it with the engine in place.
Never could call an engine a "motor". To me, "motors" have wires and you plug them in.
