i am using a 57 housing. i did not see a # on it but it dose have the drain plug on the bottom. the center section has a casting # 3707806. cast date 128. it has an O on it about 2 inches up the case from the casting #. i was told that ment it was an early posi section. also where is the best place to buy all the bearings i will need. thank you

Why do you need axle measurements? What are you trying to do?

I think you can find the axle shaft lengths with a thorough search at chevytalk.com.

First sort by pressed on bearing, then by 4 3/4 BC, not many rears out there that meet both these requirements.

Note that in both of Cnut's links they got the posi vs. the non-posi lengths backwards. The posi axles are the shorter of the two.
