    ALUMINUM HEAD/GASKETS

    any tricks, go on dry? aluminum heads on a 350. i have never did anything with aluminum heads before. thanx.

    Depends on the gasket. If it's a common composite replacement gasket, it's dry. If it's a metal gasket, then you need a sealer like K&W Copper Spray or Permatex Hi Tack. Others, see the instructions.

    When I replaced my old GM aluminum heads with the new AFR aluminum heads several years ago, I used FelPro #1003. I carefully torqued them to spec, and used ARP bolts/washers. These gaskets do not need re-torqing.

    I've been running these heads for thousands of miles, carefree. Fact is, on two occasions I over heated the engine (purely my stupidity) and the FelPro gaskets held up just fine.
