    Tire size

What were the tire specs that were installed when the trifives originally came out? I'm in dire need of a 15 inch tire that will fit in the tire well of my 57 wagon. I have 15's on there now with rallys all the way around.

15x5 wheel (with possibility that some may have come with 15x5.5") with 6.70 x 15 tire (and possiblity that 7.10 may have come on some).. Those are the 15" wheel/tire specs (that were used for 1955-56 models. 57 Chevy passenger cars came wtih 14" wheels and corresponding tires (7.50x14)...

As far as what size might fit, take your wheel to the tire store and tell them what you desire, IF it will fit in the tire well... most tire stores are willing to try a size or two for checking fit...

A modern tire with a 205 width will fit.

I've got a 15x7 steel wheel on my 56 with a 255x70/15 tire on it, fits just fine.

With a wagon, the tire/wheel needs to fit down into the odd-shaped tire well, AND have room for the cover to be installed without hitting the tire... It's NOT good if the spare tire lid won't fit down properly...
