    Angry The beat goes on...

    and on, and on.
My first encounter with the VA. Some kind of a joke.
Appt took over a month, for a physical.[They only do 2 a day!]
Show up on time, get an attitude from the LPN that greets me.
She does the blood draw. NP
Where do I go next, for my physical? You aren't here for a physical.
Then, the argument started. I need to see the scheduler. She's not available.
I need to get my military service ID... We don't do that, here. Go to Augusta....
    Only a 200mi rt.
When's the next physical appt? Mid July. You have to call in to make it.
I then have a Facetime interview with a dr, next week. For what, a virtual physical?
    This crap is beyond moronic.
About 1 more stupid trick from them, and I'll be visiting my congressman.
    Rant off!

Buzzard, That was my experience with the VA almost 50 yrs ago.. so I never went back!

PS. The 'virtual' stuff is being done by many (all?) doctors these days, at least since the 'pandemic' started.. ie. they don't want to examine your or sit next to you, but they do still want to collect the $$$...

    ^^^ For sure!
And, I'm betting the 2 docs @ this clinic didn't graduate at the top of their class, either.
Hopefully, the referral program will work!

Wish you all the best, Old Buzzard! My experience and reaction to the VA is pretty much the same as Gary's. Besides being there to deal with medical issues, though...... I was sent there once by my union to do the pipefitting and plumbing for a new building addition. The things I saw regarding asbestos and the potable water system and the nut ward in that building...... Believe me...... You wouldn't want to have anything to do with the VA if you knew what went on behind the scenes. At least where I was.

I understand its supposed to be better since President Trump made changes. But now that he is no longer in Washington, I wouldn't hazard a guess as to how long it will take Biden and crew to screw everything up again.

    All the best,

    Harry

    Update:
The "tech" couldn't make the Facetime work.
Later, the doc called me, and we had a nice chat.
I asked for an ID card. "The machine is broken, and won't be repaired until next yr".
I need some help with ear infection. "My assistant is here. He'll set u up.
WRONG! He disconnected, and I've not heard squat since.

Old Buzzard, I have found that some doctors will give you a cash discount if you don't have healthcare insurance or just elect to get your care out of network. Get well soon and don't let that ear infection get out of hand waiting on the VA. Do what you need to get well and let the VA take a long walk off a short pier.

    G-d bless,

Harry, that's exactly what I'm doing!
I have a family doc, but thot that with the copays, and donut holes in the Medicare program, I could reduce my out of pocket expenses.
I already got nailed for over $10K, for a colon surgery, as I hadn't signed up at the VA.
    Oh well, snooze and lose!

Every cloud has a silver lining, Old Buzzard. Its hit and miss as far as how good a doctor is who might treat you at the VA. Luck of the draw. At least it was back when I went there years ago.

Having to see a private doctor for your surgery just may have saved your life. In that case, the $10 grand was well spent.

    Best regards,

    Harry
