Wish you all the best in staying healthy, Gary. At 73, I do take a pill to manage blood pressure each morning, but have been fortunate regarding cholesteral and such. A Kosher diet helps, I am sure.

I know I should eat more raw vegetables and fresh salads and fruits but being from Texas and having roots in the Louisiana bayou country as well, I really enjoy making a one pot meal of pinto beans, sweet corn, dirty rice and lean beef brisket with my 'special seasonings' once a week.

That's comfort food to me. Same as Tex-Mex food such as fajitas with fresh corn tortillas, beans, rice and guacamole. Or on occasion...... A baked potato with all the fixin's (no bacon bits, of course). Or spicy Thai curry dishes.

I swore off alcohol in '87 and recently quit soft drinks, as well. Drink mostly water and fruit juices now. Never liked coffee. Enjoy tea, but tea makes the ACE inhibitor I take for blood pressure less effective, so gave up tea about 10 years ago. Eat very few sweets. But I do enjoy a couple 20 oz. Red Bulls each day and either a blueberry, cranberry or pumpkin muffin...... Or a cup of fruit...... For dessert. Good stuff!

    Best regards,

    Harry

Bama, don’t worry about the meds. High blood pressure can be very very hard on your internal organs. Each organ has its own separate blood supply and too high a pressure really does damage. I have been on the blood pressure meds since I was in my late 40s (60 now). I am actually on two and they keep me right at 120 over 80, rock steady. You get use to taking a pill each day. They are no big deal. They will probably want you on a statin too. Also no big deal but pays dividends down the road in terms of heart health. Let’s face it, it’s better to get old and be in relatively decent health. So wave the surrender flag and let them get your pressure straightened out, even if it requires taking a blood pressure pill each day.

Just thinking about the Chi-Coms gets my blood pressure up, Rick. I need to put on a pot of beans and have a Red Bull. Maybe have a chocolate bar and shoot something or blow something up. It has a calming effect.

"and shoot something or blow something up."
How about a few #'s of Tannerite and a .308 "detonator"?
    That should cover both desires!

    Capital idea, Old Buzzard!

Disclaimer...... Don't try this at home, Kids!!!......

Many moons ago...... I knew a guy who did a bit of reloading at his kitchen table from time to time. One day, he took a 12-gauge lead slug and drilled a hole in the forward end of it with diameter 'a bit tight in his judgement' for a proper interference fit to load a .22 short casing (with projectile removed) oriented with the primer end of the .22 casing facing forward (sans bullet with wad inserted to retain powder whilst assembling). The idea being to come up with a homemade explosive round that would detonate on impact.

Tried it out a few times. The hand loads worked every time when fired at a tree trunk or other hard surface and on average 3 out of 5 shots into a large, deceased farm animal (probably had something to do with whether it hit bone or tumbled on impact). So he thought he'd go one better and try the same thing with a longer .22 LR casing but at 25 yards, accuracy suffered and groupings were unacceptably large. This was with no rifling on either the slug nor shotgun barrel. Not sure if that would have helped. If it would have, I was going to suggest he try the same thing using a 9mm Luger casing.

    Best regards,

    Harry
