    Thinking about buying a new locker and building a 28 spline 2.75 for my Dads 68 Mustang. I dont think the 289 eill hurt it, then all v8 cars and trucks at my house will have locking diffs. Dont think they exist for my fwd Lesabre or Impala.

    That should give your Dad years of dependable service, Mark! What have you found to be the best rearend lube for the Detroit Locker?

    I have run 9" Ford rears but never with a locker. Heard a heavy weight dino oil works well, either straight 90wt or 85w140, but to stay away from synthetic based lube oils. In your experience, what lube works best for everyday use with a locker in a road car?

    I will nothing but GM gear lube or Chevron Delo in any one of my locking diffs, 12 bolts Dana 60s or 9.3 Olds lockers. Chevron Delo is by far the best lube I have found for a Posi when GM additive is added.

    Thanks, Mark! I'll add that to my notes in case I change over to a 9" Ford with a Detroit Locker. FWIW...... We run Delo 400 15W-40 oil (dino, not synthetic) in our newer car. Have nearly 150,000 miles on it now and it runs great. Good stuff!
