    57 Chevy Transmission Gear Indicator

I had a broken transmission shift indicator wire on my 57 (column shift), and finally pulled the instrument cluster and put a new wire on. It is mostly back together, but the gear indicator on the dash doesn't match up too well with the gear the transmission is in. This is how they (don't) match up:

The indicator is too far to the right for Park and Reverse, while the rest aren't too bad.
Any ideas on what I might try to get them all 'not too bad'?
    Thanks, Doug

Congrats, I had mine perfect with a Th350, never that good with a 700.

    Hi Mark,
Thanks for the reply. But I had wondered:

"The indicator is too far to the right for Park and Reverse, while the rest aren't too bad.

FIWI: I have a TH350, using a Lokar rod connection between the trany and the column. I can't figure how to get P and R to line up better, without messing up the rest of the gears. I guess if I lengthen the wire, I can get closer on P & R, and be not as good for the rest of the gears as I have it now. Doesn't really seem like a fix.
    Thanks, Doug
