    Ever seen one of these???

    Hey All,

I just thought I'd post something about trifives!!! I was at a car show in Brentwood Ca. and saw a '57 Nomad while looking under the hood I saw this item. While taking a picture the owner walked up and told me it was a factory option, then he showed me the inside spool where you let the smoke, ashes and finally the finished cigarette!! He said young punks these days need this to lose their joint when they get pulled over!!!

I had a NOS one, but sold it since I'm not a smoker... but I was under the impression that the bottle mounted to the firewall.. (I have that pix in my mind from reading the instructions I think). that one doesn't look like an original... ?

What, and get the engine buzzed? I see possibilities for this gadget's abuse. For instance connecting a hose to the inlet for last-minute belly button lint vacuuming before dates or for even worse, in case the date didn't turn out to be a success

On another note - Location: Germany?

Is that now or circa 1933, because that's what I have going on in my head.

I've heard of the vacuum ashtray, but had no idea the vacuum was supposed to carry away the butts too. Thought it was just for the smoke.

It was for the ashes and smoke (when you weren't smoking it).. I'm unsure if the butts would go thru the line...?

Well, apparently they WOULD snatch butts too.. At least, that's what the box says in this video on the GM vacuum ashtray...

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CedObYDNhos

The engine vacuum applies to the bottle, and when the little lever is pushed down, the vacuum is applied to the part which holds the cigarette under the dash... (Makes me glad I've never been a smoker)..
