    First Nomad, new to site

I have been lurking around this site a bit and figured I should join and say hi. I will admit right off the bat that I'm most interested in traditional hot rod and custom cars, mostly early F*RD V8 stuff, but I love all classic cars, including tri-five Chevs (who doesn't) and I recently acquired a car I have been chasing for almost a decade, a 1956 Nomad. It was your typical "Not for sale" type thing and stuffed away in a barn for decades. I'm excited to have it and will be looking for info here on this site, it looks like there is a lot of it here. Thanks!

Thank you. I'm near Portland, Oregon. Here is a photo of the car when I pulled it from the barn:

I haven't had a chance to decode everything, but I know it was originally a Crocus Yellow/Onyx black car. The car is extremely solid and straight. The black paint has been on it since the 70's and it is in pretty good condition. I'm just going to buff it and run it as is. Tentative plans for now are to leave it basically as-is other than adjusting the stance a little and making it run and drive. I think it's going to end up with a blown 327 and Muncie.

When the paint is fresh, the crocus yellow / black combination can be very striking (and different) which catches the eye..

Welcome to the site. Nice project you got there. Yes, I agree...just buff it up and get it road worthy for now, then plan the engine swap for later.
