PRIMING OIL PUMP-40 LBS ON GAUGE, NO OIL TO ROCKERS REMEDY?

using a single shaft to prime with electric drill, going full blast. Gauge reads consistent 40 lbs..I have red that you need a distributor type priming shaft to create pressure to feed the lifters, push rods, rockers. A solid lifter cam . Should I worry or try starting the car ? Any info appreciated.

    Hi dmday,
if it was me, I would want to see oil at all the rockers before starting. I used a priming rod from Summit, like this one:

I was happy with it, and observed I had oil at all the rockers.
    Regards, Doug

You need a priming tool or an old distributor base with the teeth ground off gear. Also rotate the motor until they all oil.

Yup, my priming tool is made from an old points distributor.
