    Rear Yoke torque specs

    Hello everyone!
I was out for a drive and my rear yoke broke on me. I have a new driveshaft being made. Looking for info on what torque specs I should tighten the rear yoke to when I install the drive shaft. 4F7E6B8E-56FE-481B-9DD3-9C5A7A2365D0.jpeg
    Picture attached for entertainment!

If it matters I have a 56 Chevy, I believe it to be stock rearend with 3.70 gears and posi. Casting code is 3707306

edit: after a little more research it looks like I should have marked it prior to taking it off…oops. There was a bit of the thread that got ground down when it broke, I might be able to use that as a reference…but any advice on how to reinstall it or how far I should tighten it.

Using a reference mark would be meaningful only if you were to use the same yoke again, which you obviously can't. The reason is that the thickness of the new and old yokes may be enough different to change things.

I would tighten it to 125-150 ft-lb and call it a day. It takes quite a bit more than before the crush sleeve starts crushing.
