    Radiator

Looking for insight. I have a 55 4d, 235 99% original and trying to keep it that way as much as possible. But it is NOT a show car, just wanting it to be very nice to the original. I need a radiator but having a had time dropping $700 plus for cooper and brass. I see some aluminum ones that are shaped like the original and i see that some have painted the top black like the original. Has anyone had experience painting an aluminum one and it lasting and looking good over time? Thanks for any info.

I have an original radiator from a 56 6-cylinder car and another 56 V8 radiator. I don't know the condition but maybe it would work even if it needs some repair. I could try to check it out for you if I knew what to do. Let me know if you're interested. I can post pics if that helps.

I can't confirm quality of the aluminum replacement radiators, but as for painting 'black'.. If the aluminum is properly prepped and primed, it should not be an issue..

If you look on my avatar you can see I'm in Colorado. That's a long ways from you so I don't know if it's worth the shipping. I don't know what it's worth but if you're interested we can talk about it. It's in a parts car I bought that I believe was running when I bought it but it's pretty beat up on the body. Lots of good parts but I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it.

Here's a couple of pics of the 6cyl radiator. It's not "correct" for your 55, but it's more "correct" than an aftermarket one. By the way, this is a manual transmission radiator. The car has a 6 cylinder with overdrive and an original 4:11 rearend.
