    Over drive transmission

We just picked up our '56 from our local transmission shop. They installed a 700R4 to replace our 350. We also had a new driveshaft built, rather than shortening our old one. I haven't had a chance to take the BelAir on the highway yet, but I'm looking forward to seeing improved mileage from the 14 mpg I'm used to seeing. The owner of the shop told me that the engine was running at 1,900 rpm when he was driving at 60 on the highway.

What rear gear and rear tire size are you running.
I have a 700 in my 56 with 3:42 and 29 inch tall tire, and I think I'm about the same, maybe a little less rpm.

    I think it's around a 3.50 with a 27" tire.
