    Hello!

I want to introduce myself to the forum. I am recently retired from health care and my son (who has built cars for years) got us a beautiful 55 HT BelAir for us to restore. Wow! I know very little about wrenching on these as it's been more than fifty years since I I tinkered with an old GTO I had in high school. I have a lot of catching up to do, so what better place to learn than here with guys! Looking forward to it!

Welcome Jgrandon. Post up pic or 2 of your 55 so we know where you're starting from. Congrats on the new hobby.

Thanks for the welcome. Here is a photo of my 55 HT BelAir, it has had some customization of the front suspension giving it a nice low stance, and front disc brakes have been done. V8, stock, 260 (?), 3 Spd transmission converted to floor shift. Although it sounds like a muscle car, it is very much underpowered. I am hoping to change that after getting the steering and the suspension dialed in. Ride is very stiff, steering is my first priority at this point as it is not very stable, a power steering kit would be another great addition. IMG_5379.jpeg

Welcome! There are guys here with a lot of knowledge, and they will be able to help you with the improvements you want to make to your '55. It looks like your son found you a nice car. I hope that you'll enjoy your father and son project.

Solid looking car with some faded paint.. appears you've already begun a little compounding? compound, polish, and wax and it'll look like new...
