If you google "57 Rear drum brakes" and click on "images" you can find a lot of pics. I do it a lot.

Chevnut , thanks for posting these two" Great Detailed Pictures " . They are going to be of great help to my restore friend Bob . I did try to find pictures with my search bar but these are the by far the best I've seen , thanks ,Dom

Get a shop manual for your year of car. Will have this and MUCH more.
I have found the shop and assembly manuals for these cars the worst, most worthless books I've ever seen. I still remember the set of 1973 Mercury factory shop manuals I had that had so much detail that it stated many times in the steps for different procedures that said close the hood in the last sentence.

Did you need someone to tell you to close the hood?
I do have a 1957 Chevrolet Shop manual , but it seems to be misplaced in my restorer friends shop right now . I showed him these rear brake pictures that " Chevnut ' was kind enough to post , and he said that they were for self adjusting brakes ? Did'nt the 1957 Chevrolet have self adjusting rear brakes in 1957 ?

rear brake
Apparently the self-adjusting feature is an upgrade. Here's a picture of a 57 rear brake. I think I have a couple of original 56 and 57 rearends out in my junkyard and I could get some pics if that would help.

RD? What exactly do you expect to find in the Service/Assembly manuals to help you with your car? Hardly nothing about your car is 'factory stock'... ??? The 'Body Service' News or body manual is the only place you're going to find anything pertinent to your car, so PLEASE don't criticize manuals that are a great help to people with original cars!
